According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, there is high drama surrounding the coaching position at Real Madrid. The report claims that if the club loses its upcoming La Liga match against Alavés, current head coach Xabi Alonso will face immediate dismissal. Castilla coach Álvaro Arbeloa has reportedly been confirmed by the club as his designated successor.
The speculation intensified after Real Madrid Castilla secured a convincing 3-1 victory, prompting questions about Arbeloa's future. With Alonso’s position highly uncertain, Arbeloa’s name is heavily linked to the senior team job, a transition that could be rapidly triggered by a loss this weekend.
Despite the intense rumors, Arbeloa maintained a focus on his current role: “I am the Castilla coach. I am focused on this, on the match against Manchester City on Tuesday, and then on Celta Fortuna on Saturday. Nothing else.”
Arbeloa also expressed unwavering respect for Alonso, calling him a good friend and an excellent coach. He acknowledged the immense pressure of the Real Madrid job, but emphatically denied being informed by the club about taking over the first team, stating firmly: “No.”
