Real Betis Unveils €262 Million Stadium Project Set for 2028 Completion

    0 0

During a recent shareholders' meeting, Real Betis President Ángel Haro announced an ambitious €262 million project to build the new Benito Villamarín Stadium. The club aims to complete construction by May 2028, during which time the team will temporarily relocate to La Cartuja Stadium.

Haro emphasized that while the club has reached record-high general revenues, the operating profit (EBITDA) remains negative. Currently, Betis relies on player sales and youth academy investment to balance the books. The new stadium is designed to be a "structural transformation," serving as a landmark in Seville featuring vertical stands, a full roof, and extensive entertainment and dining areas. Haro expects this project to push annual revenues toward the €200 million goal, providing the financial stability needed to sustain a top-tier squad.

The total investment breaks down into €163 million for construction, €23.3 million for equipment, and various other costs including taxes, legal fees, and a debt service fund, culminating in the €262 million total. This move is viewed as the most significant strategic pillar for the club's long-term growth and its ability to compete consistently in European competitions.
