Now, a video shot from another angle reveals that he was actually signaling to the head coach at the time, Xabi Alonso.

The footage shows that Xabi Alonso initially called the entire Real Madrid squad to gather around him and line up, but his request was ledly refused by Mbappé, who waved his arms emphatically and urged Alonso to leave as soon as possible. Alonso had no choice but to change his mind and follow the team off the stage.

This seems to confirm that Alonso lacked authority within the squad. In the early hours of January 13, Real Madrid officially announced Alonso’s dismissal, less than 24 hours after the match ended.
