FIFA have released the latest edition of the world rankings. In this international window, the only competition played was the Africa Cup of Nations, and Morocco climbed to 8th in the world thanks to their runner-up finish, setting a new all-time high in the nation’s history.
In the previous edition of the rankings, Morocco were placed 11th. As there were basically no A-level international matches in other confederations during the last two international windows, Morocco managed to break into the world’s top 10 by virtue of winning the Arab Cup and finishing runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations, rising to 8th place.
This marks only the second time in Morocco’s history that they have reached the world’s top 10. Back in April 1998, Morocco were ranked 10th, which had previously stood as the highest ranking in the national team’s history.
